Track Opens In March

Badlands BMX will be having the first practice of the season on Thursday March 22nd.
5:30-7:00pm $2.00 fee Full Gear is required!
Racing will begin on Saturday March 24th.

Please remember to bring your current & valid ABA card or your membership renewal receipt in order to participate in any santioned race or practice. It is important to keep all of your rider information up to date. All memberships will be verified.
Full Gear is required for all riders in order to get on the track:
1. Helmets with a permanent strap attached; snaps are not allowed
2. Enclosed shoes that cover all toes, and is sufficient to protect riders feet
3. Long pants are recommended however, loose fitting short pants are allowed if used along with a one-piece knee and shin guard with a rigid surface(subject to approval)
4. Long sleeve shirts are recommended, but short sleeves may be worn with sufficient elbow protection (subject to approval)
5. Gloves are optional, but not mandatory
Equipment:
All bicycles are required to have a working brake system using hand and/or coaster (foot) brake. No front brakes allowed. Handlebars cannot exceed 30" in width and grips are required and must cover/enclose the entire opening on the handlebar ends. Padding is recommended on top frame tube and handlebar, but not mandatory. Absolutely no type of pegs will be allowed on any bicycle on the track at any time. All wheels, seats, and bars must be securely tightened. All kickstands, chainguards, fenders, and reflector brackets must be removed. All bicycles must be structurally sound with no broken welds or jagged edges exposed. All equipment is subject to approval by track operator.
Track Rules:
All riders must be courteous and have respect for others on and off the track. We ask that no profanity be used. Badlands BMX is located on City Property and we must abide by Village of Los Lunas Park rules--NO SMOKING! NO PETS! NO DRUGS! NO ALCOHOL on premises(this includes the parking lot too)THANK YOU!!

Earned Double Race Re-scheduled

The Double Points race set for this Saturday Sept. 10th has been moved to Nov.5th, 2011. This race comes right before the Grands and it will be so much cooler. We look forward to seeing everyone out at the track so they can get in those last minute points. We will be posting more information as the time gets closer.

Track Closed for Labor Day Weekend

Badlands BMX track will be closed for the holiday weekend of Labor Day. There will be regular practice on Thursday September 8th from 5:30-7:00pm. Saturday races will resume on the 10th if the track is dry. All of the recent rain has made the track difficult to ride. We will keep you posted. Have a safe holiday weekend!!!

Scholarship Race

On Saturday August 27th we will be holding a double points Scholarship Race. Sign-ups will be from 9:00-10:00a.m. for a fee of $20.00. This is a new race introduced by the ABA. The top 3 riders will be eligible for a scholarship. More details will be available as the ABA updates them. We look forward to seeing everyone out at the track.

TRACK IS DRIED OUT!!

We will finally be having practice on Thursday August 18th:>) Races will be on Saturday August 20th. Sign ups are from 10:00-11:00a.m. The track has finally seen some dry weather, but there is always work to be done. Please come out and get back into the swing of BMX racing. We look forward to seeing everyone out there. Sorry for the inconvenience of the track being flooded. Hopefully the weather will be kind to the track in the near future.

ABA/NBL Merger

Here is the latest update on accepting ALL NBL memberships at ABA tracks:
"Any NBL rider with a valid NBL Membership, whether monthly, annual, or 30 day, will receive a USA BMX membership for class and cruiser valid through December 31, 2011 valid at all ABA and NBL tracks."
Any new or NBL renewal members will be required to purchase a new USA BMX license as previously outlined. Dual ABA/NBL riders will receive a USA BMX expiration date of December 31, 2011 or their current ABA expiration date, whichever is greater.
There is a membership application that can be picked up at the track for any NBL members who come out to race. We will be happy to convert your current membership and answer any questions that you may have. We look forward to having all riders participate in the new merger and enjoy the freedom of going to more tracks.

Thanks to everyone who came out to work on the track on Saturday the 30th. We appreciate all of the help. It shaped up very well and we are all set for practice on Thursday August 4th & races on Saturday the 6th. We look forward to having a good turnout and hope that all of the mud has dried up around the track.

THE BADLANDS BMX FLOAT WAS AWARDED 2ND PLACE OVERALL FROM THE JUDGES DURING THE 4TH OF JULY PARADE. CONGRATULATIONS!! A BIG THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO WORKED ON THE FLOAT AND PARTICIPATED IN THE PARADE. WE ARE VERY HONORED & PROUD TO GET RECOGNITION FROM THE COMMUNITY OF VALENCIA AND THE TOWN OF LOS LUNAS.

4th of July parade a huge success!!

There was a great turnout for the parade on July 4th. Thank you to everyone who showed up to make this event fun and memorable. Kids and parents who rode and walked down Main Street had a good time mingling with the spectators and enjoying the festivities. It wouldn't have been possible without the help of the riders and their families who participated. The 3 mile walk didn't seem long at all because we were all having such a good time. Thank you for your support and all of the positive efforts that is put forth to make this track a success! BMX For Life!!

Badlands BBQ

Everyone enjoyed the food and ignored the heat. We had a good turnout for our free BBQ with plenty of hamburgers and hot dogs for all. Thanks to everybody who came out and raced with their families on June 25th. We look forward to having another get together in a few months when the weather is a little cooler.

March 26th 2011 started off a GREAT Badlands BMX season! Badlands had a Grandstand of an opening and were ecstatic to welcome back all of our current ABA members as well as several new memberships. We would like to thank all of our Board members for all of there hard work, all of our Volunteers we appreciate all of your hard work and all that you do, and most of all and importantly... we thank all of our BMX'ers... and their families for all that they do to help support this amazing sport. We are excited for a GREAT 2011 Season!

WELCOME TO BADLANDS BMX!!! LET THE RACING BEGIN!!

The Badlands BMX track has almost finished the completion of the 2010 rebuild. Come out and enjoy the new track design and lets have some fun. All ages and skill levels are encouraged to participate.

1st practice night of the 2010 season will be April 20th 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. FREE entry
2nd practice night will be April 22nd 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. FREE entry
First race of the season will be April 24th 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. sign ups and racing to start after moto posting. A $10.00 entry fee per participant.
This is a trophy race for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers of all age group and skill levels.

Riders that are ABA current: must bring their ABA cards or reciept and comply with ABA requirements.

Riders that are not ABA (American bicycle Association) current members must: sign a one day free paractice or race waiver of liability or register with the ABA for the year. If under the age of 18 must have a legal parent or guardian present and sign the waiver. Must have a helmet (full face is preferred but not mandatory), long sleeve shirt or arm guards if in short sleeve, and long pants.

yearly ABA memberships are $45 for the first and $40 for any additional family members. (These are not track fees, they are ABA membership fees that include ABA membership card, insurance and magazine as well as website points tracking)
